New Thing #4 – Making Cookie Cake

Is it strange that my two favorite types of cake aren’t even technically cake?  I love ice cream cake and my second favorite type of cake is cookie cake!  So I decided to make one today.  I used this recipe from Adventures In My Kitchen blog (http://soozind.blogspot.com/2012/03/m-cookie-pie.html), and like the girl in the post, I used a pie pan, so I guess I made a cookie pie.  I also substituted chocolate chips instead of M&M’s.  Here’s how it turned out.

Most of my friends know that I’m big into making cupcakes.  I tried an actual size cake for a friend’s birthday, but it didn’t turn out so well (sorry again Michelle!).  As for cookies, I usually end up eating all the dough before I bake them, but I tried this one anyway and it worked out ok.  I didn’t have any frosting, so it was kind of plain, but there’s nothing wrong with a plain chocolate chip cookie!  The recipe was good, except the 30 minute baking time wasn’t enough for me.  I took it out and thought it was done, but it was a bit undercooked.  It wasn’t too sweet and the texture was very soft.  Overall, it was a success.  In fact, I’m going to go have another piece of cookie pie right now!  Yum!  New thing #4 is officially done.

  1. Hey, I’m the girl in the post 🙂 so glad you liked the recipe!! I think because of the coating on the M&M’s it adds a bit of extra sweetness that lacks if you just use chocolate chips, but I’ve made it both ways and loved it. So glad you liked it, and thanks so much for sharing and linking back to me!! Hope you’ll visit my blog again!
